The Minister of Niger Delta Godswill Akpabio has received a Court of Appeal order towards Senator Chris Ekpeyong.
This comes after the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, Cross River state ordered a rerun election in Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district which Akpabio contested towards Ekpeyong.
The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) had declared Ekpeyong, a former deputy governor, who contested below the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP), winner of the election however Akapbio filed a petition towards his victory on the tribunal.
He had requested the tribunal to put aside Ekpenyong’s election, alleging that it was marred by irregularities.
However describing the petition as “missing in benefit”, the tribunal stated the petitioner didn’t show that he received the election in addition to didn’t current convincing proof of non-compliance with electoral act as raised in his petition.
Dissatisfied with the decision of the tribunal, he headed to the appellate courtroom.
In its ruling on Saturday, the Court ordered a rerun election in Essien Udim native authorities, the place Akapbio hails from.
