Zamfara State Police command has revealed that the district head of Wuya Anna in Zamfara and 13 other kidnapped victims have regained their freedom.
According to the police spokesman in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu, on the 24th March, 2020, the Zamfara State Police Command in collaboration with the state authorities and a few leaders of the repentant bandits rescued the district head of Wuya, Alhaji Umar Usman and 13 other kidnapped victims in the state.
“It could possibly be recalled that on 21st March, 2020, unidentified armed males stormed Wuya and Yartasha Wuya villages of Anka LGA and kidnapped the mentioned district head and 13 (13) others.
“While handing over the victims to the executive Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, the commissioner of police, Barrister Usman Nagogo explained that the kidnapped victims were rescued in collaboration with some repentant bandits following an intensive engagement and further assured that more kidnapped victims will soon be rescued,” he mentioned.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Dauran knowledgeable the Governor that each one the rescued victims are hale and hearty, commending the Governor for adopting dialogue as a method to carry lasting peace in the state.
